Data Processing Agreement

Before any student roster can be imported, a school's administrator must review and accept AssemblyNote's Data Processing Agreement. It establishes the framework required by FERPA, COPPA and California's SOPIPA: it designates AssemblyNote a “school official” with a legitimate educational interest, names the categories of student data processed, restricts what those may be used for, and sets out breach notification, retention and deletion obligations.

The DPA is reviewed and signed inside the AssemblyNote dashboard, where the acceptance is recorded with the signer's identity, the timestamp, and a cryptographic hash of the exact document agreed to. This is not a formality — roster import is blocked at the server until it is executed, so a school cannot enter student data without it.

Districts and schools evaluating AssemblyNote before signing up can request a copy of the current DPA, or ask about a district-specific agreement, at privacy@assemblynote.com.

Privacy and data requests

Questions about our data practices, requests to access, correct, export or delete data, and any notice required under a Data Processing Agreement should go to privacy@assemblynote.com.

Most requests are faster to handle in the product itself: an administrator can remove a student, correct a record, or export the school's complete data from the dashboard at any time, and those changes take effect immediately. Requests a school cannot resolve that way should be sent to the address above.
